WILDCAT KIDS GET A TASTE OF THE BIG-TIME @ COUNTY TOURNEY

The Nassau Wildcat Wrestling Club entered 16 wrestlers into the Nassau County tournament held for the right to be crowned "County Champ."
It was a truly an eye opening experience for our kids, as our 1st and 2nd year wrestlers went up against some highly experienced, hardcore competition.
Overall, Wildcat kids recorded a 9-28 (.243) mark against the best Nassau County had to offer. Many of these matches, however, were close, wherein our lack of match experience hurt us. This will come with time! By the Coaches' count, at least 6 close matches were lost due to one or two mistakes. This is correctable with repitition.

Nick Loiacono won the County title, while Mike Marini placed 2nd and Billy McLean took 3rd. Sam Cusano dropped 2 heartbreakers; the 1st - losing by a point as the match ended with Sam having his opponent on his back. The 2nd - Sam dropped a 7-6 decision after leading 6-2. Max Mosca lost by a point in a tremendously exciting match, while Dillon Hanel came up short on criteria, dropping a 4-Overtime scoreless classic. Matt DeBenedittis and Dylan Dombrowski entered the savage Junior High bracket and wrestled well. Finally, Nick D'Angelo, Ben Freund, Christian Marini, Dan Marini, Charlie Forero, Sean Richards, Shawn Mosca and Mikey Loiacono all wrestled tough in their 1st County Championship experience.

Although it was a tough day, the coaches were proud of the kids, and we know we are making strides.
