Shawn Mosca and Nicholas Iuvara led the Nassau Wildcats into battle this past Sunday (December 9th) at the always tough Whitman Wildcats tournament at Walt Whitman High School in South Huntington.

Shawn Mosca (3rd grade), a 2nd year Wildcat wrestler, went 3-0 on the day en route to winning the Midget Division (3rd & 4th grades) Championship at 65 pounds. Shawn used the experience he got the previous week, when he entered the Rocky Point/Razor tournament, and looked like a wily veteran on the mat. He recorded a pin, a technical fall decision, and also came from behind to overcome his opponent (and some questionable calls!!!) to win the crown. He never stopped moving. Shawn's commitment to working hard and paying attention in practice, along with his dedication to enter the toughest tournaments really paid off. Great job, Shawn!!!

Nicholas Iuvara became the youngest Wildcat wrestler ever to enter a tournament. Nick, who just turned 4 years old, is a Pre-K student. He entered the "Pee-Wee" Division wrestling bracket with the other Pre-Ks and kindergarteners. This took lots of courage on Nick's part, being so young. He did a great job representing the team at Walt Whitman. Nick now has seen what it's like to be out there on a mat. It's tough work, but it does get easier. Keep up the good work, Nick!!!

We're really proud of Shawn and Nicholas!
