Wildcats Sports

On Sunday, December 16th, the Nassau Wildcats traveled to Wantagh High School to participate in their youth wrestling tournament. The Wildcats entered 15 wrestlers but, unfortunately, only 13 actually made it due to the poor weather conditions. Of the 13 who were able to attend, 3 left as tournament Champions. On the day, the Wildcats produced an overall record of 10-13 (.435). Several of our 1st year wrestlers made their "mat" debuts and were able to jump out to early leads, only to fall later in the matches due to their lack of experience. This learning curve is expected. Keep up the good work.

Joseph Contrastano (2-0) entered his 1st tournament and was stellar in both his matches. He looked like an experienced veteran in winning the Championship. Max Mosca (3-1) rallied to win the Championship by defeating an opponent to whom he had previously lost at the Whitman tournament. Sean Richards (9-0) remained unbeaten on the year in winning his 3rd Championship in as many tries.

1st year, 5th grader, Nick Reda, also made his first appearance in a live tournament. In the 1st match of his career, Nick was pitted against former Wildcat standout, Anthony Cerrone. Nick hung in there with Anthony, who has 4 years of experience and is always tough. In Nick's next match, he came from behind, using an assortment of Half Nelsons and Bulldozers, to blow past his opponent to take home 3rd place. Other Wildcat place winners included Nick Matteo, Shawn Mosca and Faisal Aziz, who all placed 3rd on the day.

Lance and Luis Costa, Samuel Mohebban, Robert Devlin, Dillon Hanel and Craig Mazzeo all worked hard and got great mat experience at Wantagh.

Thanks to all those who participated!!!
