The Nassau Wildcats sent 14 grapplers to the Massapequa tournament this past Sunday (1/6/2008) and returned home with four CHAMPIONSHIPS and four 2nd Place finishes, in an incredible display by our kids. On the day, Wildcat wrestlers finished up with a 15-12 (.556 winning percentage), with our "Seniors" posting an incredible 11-6 (.647 percentage) mark.

Wildcat "Juniors" were led by Mr. Max Mosca, who upped his record to 5-1 on the year, by winning his 2nd tournament in a row. Michael McCleary entered his first career tournament and took home 2nd place. "Iron" Mike Loiacono wrestled extremely tough in his first match of the day, dropping a decision to a highly talented Locust Valley grappler. Mikey bounced right back and defeated another tough dude to claim 3rd place on the day. Shawn Mosca, Stephen McCleary and Dean Manfredi all wrestled well too!!!

Nick Reda, Dillon Hanel and Liam Fraser led the charge for the Wildcat Seniors, as all three were crowned Champions. Mark "The Technician" Perrone returned to action and went "textbook" to promptly pin his first opponent, before dropping a close one in the finals. Samuel Mohebban also took home 2nd place, falling in the Championship round to teammate, Dillon Hanel. Faisal Aziz, in only his 2nd career event, placed 2nd and has improved dramatically since the beginning of the year. Sean Richards (2nd place) improved his record to 11-1 on the season, falling 4-2 to a tough Elwood Blue Wave opponent in a hotly contested, highly controversial Championship final. Robert Devlin also showed major progress on the mat.
