Reo and Richards Earn "ALL-LONG ISLAND" Honors

Posted Sunday, March 29, 2009 by Ken Richards
Two Wildcat wrestlers decided it wasn't baseball and lacrosse season just yet and entered the final tournament of the season. Our two Wildcats, Paul Reo and Sean Richards, participated in the LONG ISLAND SCHOOLBOY (7th & 8th Grade) CHAMPIONSHIPS. Both earned "ALL-LONG ISLAND" HONORS.
8th grader, Paul Reo, a 1st year Wildcat fresh off his 4th place NYS finish two weeks ago in Binghamton, was one mistake away from winning the Long Island title. Paul came back with a vengeance to earn a 3rd place finish. Paul finishes the season with 16 wins and 3 regular season tournament championships. He is the Nassau County Champ, and an "All-Long Island" and "All-State" wrestler.  Not bad for a 1st year grappler!
Sean Richards, a 7th grader, came out with a purpose after falling short in his bid for All-State honors at Binghamton. Advancing to the semi-finals, courtesy of an upset victory, Sean then battled back to a 4th place Long Island finish. The weight class was indeed tough, including the #2 and #3 NYS place winners, and Sean finished ahead of #3.  Richards finishes the season with 19 wins and 4 regular season tournament championships. He earned "All-Nassau" honors (5th place) and "All-Long Island" honors.
These results show that hard work pays off. Both Paul and Sean are still training in the off-season at Garden City, Wantagh and Clarke HS. If you want to get better....now is the time to do it!!!
